There is no button that makes you better, you make yourself better.
There is no button that gets you a job or work, you get yourself work.
If you are denied work, because you need to be better…

Then make yourself better.

Solid advice for any writer

The image I posted featuring advice for writers (which was found on a bulletin board in a middle school) has well over 2,000 notes which is rad! Im glad it’s garnered the attention it deserves. It has restored my faith in peoples respect for story, what with there being so much shit out there in stories and films and books these days.

Story is important, it is key, but it is nothing if you don’t know how to convey your concept to an audience.

‎Overall Advice:
Learn to be poor yet dedicated, forever. Step away from the computer every chance you can and learn how to be flexible as an artist/designer. Learn art history, color theory, grid systems, typography, photography, and illustration. Work with other artists/designers around you. We all learn from one another. Education is everything, but the institution isn’t. School is great, but retaining information is better. With that said, Art School is great for some and a waiting room for others. It’s certainly not a requirement to be an artist. Once you have a knowledge base, the world is yours to make.

To summarize, I am a person just like you, no better or worse. I work to create things that I find interesting and fulfilling on a variety of levels. My advice to you is to find your voice and do the same, and hopefully it will lead you in a positive direction. Good luck.
